Italy
During my two-month stay in Verona for my foreign language studies and during numerous travels, Italy has personally become more and more dear to me than any other country. In no other country in the world have I ever visited so many places as in Italy. Besides the love for the Italian language and my Italian friends, I love the joy of life and the Italian culture and of course the Italian cuisine, which includes much more than just pizza & pasta. My heart beats especially for Verona and Venice, but also Rome and Florence are among the most beautiful Italian cities for me.The region of Apulia and the sea around Otranto is also beautiful. There are many pretty towns in the area that you can visit. Absolutely recommendable for a beach holiday and for less crowded places are the beaches of the province of Salerno in the region of Campania.
Portugal
The road from Lisbon to the Al Garve coast is scenic and perfect for a road trip, as long as you don't take the toll motorway, but the N393 and then the IC4. This leads through the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina Nature Park. Surrounded by cork oaks, one drives along a beautiful, idyllic road, smells the scent of eucalyptus bushes and passes many small Portuguese villages.
The Al Garve coast is not only wonderful for relaxing and sunbathing. There is also a lot to discover here. The rocky landscape is unique and each beach is individual; there are small caves and arches everywhere. I especially liked the Algar Seco, the view from the Ponta da Piedade, the Praia dos Três Irmãos and the bay of Carvoeiro. The Praia do Paraíso and the Praia do Zavial are still real insider tips, if one prefers it somewhat quieter! The caves, especially the famous Cave de Benagil, are also absolutely worth seeing.
USA - West
One of my absolute travel highlights was the road trip along Highway 101 from Oregon to California. Never in my life have I driven a more beautiful road. I could have stayed there for days to stop at every viewpoint along the way. For me personally the most beautiful beaches of the west coast were Cannon Beach in Oregon and Santa Monica Beach and Malibu Beach in Los Angeles.
I also really liked Las Vegas because it is so unique and crazy. Furthermore I was deeply impressed by the red and gold desert landscape of Arizona and Utah. I still dream of returning there one day. I like the dry heat and the unique rock formations of sandstone and I simply love to see how the sun shines on the red sand and how it starts to shine. The Upper Antelope Canyon was the absolute highlight of this trip for me.
The Yellowstone-Nationalpark with its many thermal springs, geysers and beautiful forests and waterfalls also offers a fantastic natural scenery. The wildlife there is so unique. From bison, moose and bears to chipmunks, you can see animals that you would not see otherwise.
Kanada - West
Vancouver is certainly the most famous and diverse metropolis in Western Canada and for me it is clearly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The view over the skyline of the city against the backdrop of the North Shore Mountains is gorgeous and the many gardens and parks, especially the famous Stanley Park, make Vancouver a green recreational metropolis. Not to forget: the beautiful, unspoilt beaches on the outskirts of the city, especially Kitsilano Beach and Wrecked Beach, should not be missed when visiting the metropolis.
During a trip to Canada, one should also not miss to visit the national parks of the Rocky Mountains, among others the Banff National park. During our road trip in September there was already some snow there, which made the landscape even more enchanting. On the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93) you drive through beautiful forests and always have the mountain scenery of the Rocky Mountains in front of you. The view from Bow Summit to Peyto Lake was breathtaking and impressed me most in Banff National Park. But Lake Louise, Emerald Lake and Lake Moraine are also part of a visit.
From here, a side trip to the typical Canadian and less touristic metropolis Calgary is also possible. The skyline and the colorful lights and sculptures at night, as well as the red-white illuminated Peace Bridge give the city a very special flair.
Sweden
As a nature-loving person I got to know Sweden as a very idyllic and quiet country. Also the open and balanced mentality of the Swedes impressed me positively. I am a fan of the characteristic red wooden houses. Stockholm is for me clearly one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. I especially liked the picturesque old town and the beautiful location at the waterfront.
I can really recommend a road trip on Sweden's roads due to the relaxed driving feeling and mainly low traffic volume: nobody pushes, there are few traffic jams and you are surrounded by beautiful nature.
One of the highlights of this trip for me was the winter landscape in Lapland. The chance to see the northern lights in winter in the surroundings of the city of Kiruna is really good, even if I was unfortunately not allowed to be one of the lucky ones. But I enjoyed our stay at the Husky Farm very much and kept the time in our small, cozy cabin in great memory.
Furthermore the annually rebuilt Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi is a unique work of art and definitely worth a visit.
Scenically worthwhile is also the Coast of Norrland with its beautiful untouched nature and many lakes.
Austria
Numerous family vacations at the Wörther See and a city trip to Vienna brought me closer to the great nature and the delicious food of the country. Although I have already been there so often, the lake and mountain region around Carinthia always fascinates me, especially because of the Italian climate and the beautiful landscape. The Wörther See is one of my favourite lakes here. I can warmly recomme
nd the hiking trail through the Tscheppaschlucht to every nature lover.
A trip to the Maltatal is also worthwhile. Especially the panorama road "Malta Hochalmstraße" with its beautiful waterfalls and the mountain panorama at the Kölnbreinstausee convinced me very much.
Austria's capital Vienna impresses with its great castles and gardens. Especially in the dark, the city centre and the sights are really well lit. Also the Hundertwasser houses are unique.
Belgium
In Belgium, I was mainly in the Flemish region and in the capital.
In Brussels, the Royal Palace and the Atomium are very imposing and the Grote Markt with the Gothic Town Hall, the guild houses and the Broodhuis, which I found architecturally impressive.
In the Flemish Region I can warmly recommend the cities of Antwerp and Bruges. My highlight in Bruges was the Grote Markt in the heart of the city with its beautiful colourful houses. On a clear day, the panoramic view from the cathedral St. Salvator is also worthwhile. The atmosphere of the city is best enjoyed along the canals. From Rozenhoedkaai you have the ultimate postcard panoramic view. The Church of Our Lady is very impressive, too.
In Antwerp I was particularly impressed by the cathedral and the Grote Markt.
Denmark
Those who visit Copenhagen should not miss a visit to the Torvehallerne, a huge market hall for gourmet food in the city centre, where one can taste the famous Danish Smørrebrød and other typical specialities of the country.
Also the free city Cristiania, an autonomous, self-governing municipality, fascinated me in its own way with its quirky houses and bizarre sculptures, although I would not necessarily want to live there myself. When visiting Copenhagen, you should see the changing of the guard at Amalienborg Castle.
HUngary
Here my travel experience is limited to the capital Budapest. The parliament building on the banks of the Danube river and the panoramic view from the citadel are particularly positive memories for me. Budapest at night should not be missed either, as most of the sights are beautifully illuminated.
Luxembourg
Thinking back to my visit to Luxembourg City, I especially remember the view of the Petruss valley and the great view from the Chemin de la Corniche over the city. Furthermore the medieval district Barrio Grund and the Palais Grand-Ducal are very beautiful.
England
London is the very first capital I have seen in my life and therewith, it made an unforgettable impression during my visit. My personal highlights were the famous attractions at the bank of the Thames, especially the famous Tower Bridge, Big Ben, etc. I also liked the Picadilly Circus due to its lively atmosphere and it reminded me a little of a miniature version of Times Square in New York. From Greenwich's observatory one has a great view over the city and the cute squirrels are very trusting here.
Apart from London, I went on a small round trip with my school class to the south of England, where Bournemouth and Poole are particularly fond memories. Also theIsle of Wight with its chalk cliffs is beautiful and I would highly recommend it to real nature lovers.
France
As a French lover and former French student, this country should not be forgotten here. Nevertheless, I haven't gotten around too much in France yet, which should definitely change in the future. Especially in the South and in the Provence I still have many destinations on my list, because so far I have only been to the Île-de-France regions around Paris and to the Normandy. I really enjoyed my stay of several months in Paris. Long walks along the banks of the Seine, along many great buildings and bridges, having lunch in the Quartier de Latin, taking trips to Montmartre with its beautiful Basilica Sacre Coeur and the Parc Montsouris were among my greatest highlights. I was also lucky to experience the era of the cathedral Notre-Dame in its time and I recommend to visit the chapel Sainte-Chapelle.

The Netherlands
Amsterdam is one of the most unique capital cities in Europe and simply beautiful with its picturesque house architecture. You can stroll along the canals and you will always discover something new, whether it is a beautiful house or one of the many bridges, which are decorated with colourful flowers in summer.
Apropos flowers: to those of you who like flowers, I recommend to visit the flower park Keukenhof in spring or early summer.
Spain
So far, my travel experience in Spain is limited to Mallorca, which is certainly not one of the most typically Spanish regions of the country and is almost Germany's 17th state. Nevertheless, there are also places on the island with typical Spanish flair. The landscape around the Cap Formentor in the island's North and the beaches around Alcúdia are gorgeous with their supernatural blue water. The bays of Cala d'or and Cala Gat also convinced me very much. Port de Soller and Mallorca's capital city Palma are worth a day trip in any case!
Slovenia
If you come to Slovenia, you should definitely visit the Triglav National Parc. Here you can expect untouched nature and fantastic mountain panoramas. I have particularly fond memories of the Soča valley, which is named after the turquoise blue and emerald gre

In general, Slovenia's nature is rather untouched and convinces with its beautiful mountain landscapes and lakes. The country is - in my opinion - still a real insider tip away from the big stream of tourists.
